There is to be a lobby at 4pm on Thursday 27th July outside outside Oxford Town Hall for the City Council’s Housing Panel called by Oxford#Homes4All
The Panel will be challenged on two issues:
1. The development at Temple Cowley, where the Council have accepted the developer’s arguments that the scheme would not be viable if more than 23% of affordable housing were provided, departing from its own Sites and Housing Policy HP3.
2. After the Grenfell Tower disaster, the Council instigated checks on the cladding on its high-rise housing blocks in Blackbird Leys. The panels failed fire safety checks and the Council began their removal. Now, the tenants in the flats have been left feeling confused and vulnerable because the Council has halted its programme of removal whilst further checks are carried out on the overall fire resistance of the walls of the buildings.
The lobby is in support of the Blackbird Leys residents and for the people of Oxford who need truly affordable homes in the City.
